I recently made the decision to bring my website project, “A Pentester’s Journey” (APTJ.Tech), to a close. The purpose of this website was to document my progression from being a “script kitty” to becoming a skilled Pentester, where I posted about everything I learned and the certifications I earned along the way. However, as I created and maintained the website, I came to realize that its focus was too narrow. I wanted to showcase all the things I’m learning, not just those that are strictly related to Pentesting.
My interests have been changing and evolving as I age, but the overall themes have remained consistent. I’ve always enjoyed creating things, learning new things, and exploring all aspects of music, while also figuring out how things work. With my new project, “The Red Tech,” I plan to showcase not only what I’ve learned about Penetration Testing, but all aspects of technology. In addition, I will display my more creative side in the “Forge” section of the blog, where I’ll show things I’ve made through 3D printing, woodworking, metalworking, and music.
Even though I’m rebranding the website to showcase a broader range of topics, I still remain focused on my primary goal of becoming a skilled Pentester. However, I recognize that a great Pentester doesn’t rely on a single knowledge base, but rather draws on everything they’ve learned over time. To this end, I needed a better way to showcase my growing skill set and the variety of “tools” I’m acquiring along the way. “The Red Tech” will allow me to share not only what I’ve learned about Penetration Testing, but also my broader interests in technology and creativity. Thank you for taking the time to learn about my journey and my new project, and I hope you’ll continue to follow my progress.
